[...] Sorrow-kun’s List of 50 Great Anime of the Decade 2000-2009 » Behind The Nihon Review Our staff’s review of the decade continues, and today I’ll be taking on the massive task of trying to list the best fifty anime that came out this decade, as I saw them. As is fairly obvious by now, I can only list the anime that I saw, and I’ve taken the policy of not putting ongoing series on the list, even though there are a couple of gems that are still currently airing (such as Cross Game and Kemono no Souja Erin ). Also, some of the series on this list started airing in 1999, but ending in 2000. [...]

It was a pleasant surprise to find gungrave on this list, but especially all the way at number 5. I feel it is a relatively unknown and underrated anime, so im happy someone agrees with me about it. I don't think I'd put it quite so high just because I though some of the sci fi part of the show was rushed but it would still show up in my top ten. Great show.

If you haven't seen it check out Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. Both are dramatic action animes about crime syndicates and I felt that the shows shared some similarities. I actually liked phantom better so since you loved gun grave I highly recommend Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

*ahem*
What Happened to...
- Eureka seven?
- Rahxephon?
- Wolf's Rain?
- GHOST IN THE SHELL? [Both series or the second movie, or the reedition of the first movie]
- Gurren Lagann?
- Elfen Lied?
- Cowboy BeBop Knocking on Heavens door? [Hey, you just included Ponyo, might as well do on with this movie, huh? it's still 2001.]

Just asking...

I agree with a lot of the anime chosen on this list but maybe not with the ordering.... and I thought immediately thought after reading it where is Death Note? O.o
Ah well suppose this means I should be making my own top 50 list....

Hai, so I know that this will make me look like an idiot for just bringing it uo around all of these beautiful animes, but I would like to hear your analysis of Naruto. I obviously wouldn't suggest it for top 50, I was just intrigued by your eye for anime, your ability to break down what an anime is made of, and your calculated and honest opinion, and wondered what you would say about this immensely popular anime.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was a very amazing anime. I think this deserves to be on the top 5
