Absolutely Nothing.

Let me back up for a moment while you all scratch your heads. Answerman’s Hey Answerfans segment this week (I really can’t seem to stay away, can I?) posits the question, “As a fan, what do you feel Japanese creators and R1 Anime companies owe you?” I think the question is worded poorly, but I’m going to try to answer it anyway. Otakon 2007: A Casual Attendee’s Report, Part II

Since you guys seemed to like part I of my con report, here’s part II.

Day 2.

I wanted to make it to the convention center by 9:00 AM, but when six people need to get ready before any of them can leave, things get a little complicated. By the time we arrived, the Bandai Haruhi Suzumiya industry panel had about ten minutes left. I didn’t really learn anything interesting, except that Wendee Lee, the English voice actor for Haruhi is going to sing an English rendition of “God Knows.” Best case scenario is she does a great job. Worst case scenario, well that’s why Region 1 DVDs are bi-lingual.

Otakon 2007: A Casual Attendee’s Report, Part I

That about sums up the quest for press passes for Otakon 2007. I was not able to get a press pass, but since I’m the only staff member of The Nihon Review to attend Otakon this year, I figure I’d better write something about the con. Don’t expect any industry news or exclusive interviews, there are plenty of other places you can get those; this is nothing but an account of what I did on my trip to Baltimore to attend the biggest anime convention on the East coast.(...)

Fansubbers, fans, and the American anime industry have a love/hate relationship with each other. The obvious stated, the best recent example of this is Viz’s sudden issue of a Cease and Desist letter to fansubbing groups subbing Death Note… with only one episode left.
